In 2023, the Brazilian government introduced a new "Accelerated Growth" plan, allocating 67 billion BRL (approximately $12.5 billion) to renewable energy projects. Of this, 41.5 billion BRL will fund the construction of 196 solar power plants. With such rapid expansion, PV system safety has become crucial.

Statistics show that over 80% of PV plant fires are caused by DC faults, with DC arcs being the primary culprit. To address this, Brazil introduced new PV regulations in December 2023, mandating AFCI detection and shutdown for all solar projects, with enforcement scheduled for 2024.
